Q. What is a CMS?

A CMS is an abbreviation for Content Management System. In simple terms a CMS allows users to modify all aspects of their website without knowledge of coding. All you really have to do is "point, click and type".

Q. How do you achieve your designs?

I have been designing for many years so usually its through inspiration from other websites. There are a lot of designers on the internet that offer free templates. A lot of the designs I use are from other designers and I modify them for use with the CMS to meet a clients needs.

Q. Is that not stealing or plagiarism?

No. I do not steal designs. Some designers offer templates free of charge as Open Source on the condition their credits remain intact. I modify the template for my needs and accredit the designer with a link to their website.

Q. If I/we have a template can you use it?

Probably. The beauty about the Website Baker CMS is the ability to expand. With enough time you could make any template compatible. Some of course are easier to do than others but that will not stop me trying.

Q. So what can you do for me?

That all depends on what you are looking for. I do freelancing website developments which is what this site is primarily about. My primary job however is as a systems developer. Q. What specification of server are you hosting on?

This is a multi question. All websites hosted with us are actually stored on Powerful Clustered Servers. This means your website is spread over multiple servers allowing for higher redundancy and super performance at all times.

Q. What type of hosting do you offer?

The hosting that I offer is shared hosting. This means your site is submanaged by us and subject to our terms. Your site is hosted in a virtual environment under the main account of Markley IT Design, Consultancy & Storage. As a result you don't have to do anything but watch the visitors come to your site.

Q. Can I host adult content?

Yes. Fortunately my suppliers believe in freedom of speech and do not censor content in any way. All we ask is that you display a warning on your homepage to prevent accidental viewing. 

We do however not allow illegal content on our servers – no exceptions. Any illegal or child related pornography will be met with an instant cancellation of services with no refund and your details will be passed on to the authorities.

Q. Do I need any technical knowledge or programming knowledge?

No. Once you have hosting with us you will be allocated an area on our servers and given access to your Content Management System. Once you have access to that you can build your site how you like.

Q. I don't want a CMS, can I have my own website?

Yes. If you do not wish to have a CMS then I can host your html website for you. If you pass on your files I can upload them into your site (after security checks). If you prefer I could even convert your html template to be compatible for a CMS.

Q. How quick can you set my hosting up?

Usually an account is setup immediately on receipt of payment. Sub-domain hosting is setup much faster but if you have your own domain name then all that is required is for your domain name to be pointed to my hosting servers and you are ready to go.

Q. What kind of support is offered?

At present I am available on email or via the Contacts Page. If demand requires it I will be setting up a forum section and/or a online helpdesk to aid with queries. Rest assured, there will always be someone to help on hand over a 48 hour period.

Q. What do you actually consult?

In a simple term, you and your needs. If you have an issue with your home PC or your business is needing some much needed technical advice and support, I'm sure I can help.!

Q. What are your specialities?

I have been working with computers, both hardware and software, since my early teens so I like to consider myself an all rounder. I have particular interest and experience in company database development including web interaction also. Still, there isn't much I won't take my hand to.

Q. What deems you qualified to work with my computer setup?

Well I have a degree from Northumbria University and numerous years working as a developer and systems administrator for a school of over 1500 PC's, including servers. I like to think i'm more than capable for most scenarios.

Q. How can I/we be sure you won't break anything?

Many people are afraid of this. There is always something that’s "required" or "needed" to be stored and saved. I have done this for numerous years and I take lots of backup precautions before I go to work of your systems. I can also ensure you I abide strictly to the data protection act and under no circumstances would any of your personal data be divulged.

Secure Storage


Q. What are storage containers?

The storage containers we supply were originally developed for marine use. They are steel shipping containers manufactured to a very high specification out of high tensile steel, as such they are not only strong and very secure, but also capable of surviving in extreme conditions. These design qualities ensure our steel containers are ideal to use for most storage needs. We also offer limited, and larger, fibre glass styled containers at the same cost.

Q. How secure are your storage containers?

Storage containers are very secure and virtually vandal proof. As standard, there is provision for the fitment of padlocks to the door handles. For extra security we recommend a steel Security Lock to be fitted to the storage container doors. The padlocks we supply fit to all our containers with ease and are supplied with 2 numbered keys.

Additional to this all of our containers are stored in a gated and CCTV monitored premises with 24 hour access via personal key.

Q. How heavy are your containers?

A standard empty 20 foot storage container will weight in at approx 2.25 ton or 2200kg.

This ensures they are NOT easily stolen or hijacked.

Q. What is the minimum storage rental time?

Although we allow for short term storage, we require a minimum payment of 1 month up front. If you choose to continue rental with us, we will invoice you the 1st of each month where you will be extended a 30 day payment policy.

Q. Do you offer insurance?

No. We advise that you contact your insurer to arrange appropriate cover for goods stored at our premises. Storage with us is at the customers own risk.

Q. What are the conditions of storage with you?

When storing goods at our site, you warrant that they do not include controlled substances, dangerous or illegal materials and you agree to indemnify Secure Storage and proprietors against action by third parties. Agreement that any items stored with us at our premises are subject to be stored at your own risk and we accept no responsibilty to any loss or damage.

Q. What can I store?

You can store anything that you like on the condition it does not include controlled substances, dangerous or illegal materials.

We also cater for personal and business parking. If you have a caravan you wish to park up for the winter then that can be arranged. We have facilities to cater for small parked items like trailers all the way upto Heavy Goods Vehicles. Fortunately space is the one thing we have.
